It is very common and can affect men at any age, although it becomes more prevalent over 40. ED may occur occasionally or become persistent, with severity ranging from mild to more difficulties.

Common causes include stress, fatigue, anxiety and alcohol. Medical conditions such as high blood pressure, high cholesterol, diabetes, hormonal imbalance and cardiovascular disease may also contribute, as can certain medications. Mental health factors such as depression and anxiety are also common contributors. Persistent symptoms should always be assessed by a medical professional.

Botox treatment for ED, sometimes referred to as ‘Bocox’, involves injecting small amounts of botulinum toxin type A into the corpora cavernosa — the two columns of erectile tissue within the penis. This helps relax smooth muscle tissue, blood flow and supporting stronger, longer-lasting erections.

Botox temporarily blocks certain nerve signals that keep smooth muscle constricted. When these muscles relax, blood flow into the penis increases, making it easier to achieve and maintain an erection.
